5 Easy Ways To Add Some Spirit To Your Chain Link Fence

Chain link fencing is one of the most versatile types of materials for fences that is currently available. This type of fencing provides you with security. Plus, it's durable. At the same time, it's also inexpensive. However, it isn't as naturally eye-appealing as some other fencing options. In fact, it seems to look more industrial, which may not be a problem for you. However, if it is, you can get around it. In fact, if you find your chain link fence unattractive, there are ways you can spruce it up to give that much-needed vivacity.

1. Add a Coat of Paint.

One of the easiest ways to add a little bit of pizzazz to your chain link fence is by giving it some color with a coat of paint. New chain link fences actually can be purchased outright in a variety of colors. However, if your fence is older, then this may not have been an option. When you do paint your chain link fence, make sure to use a rust-inhibiting paint to provide additional protection. As for colors, you can stick to a plain black or brown or you can go all out with a bright yellow. It all depends on your personal preference and the style of your home.

2. Consider Bamboo Slats.

For a unique, interesting and rustic look, you can use bamboo slats to run through the slots of your chain link fence. It provides you with more privacy and increases your home's security (by deterring burglars), while also making your fence look amazingly beautiful.

3. Opt for Vinyl Slats.

Apart from bamboo slats, you could also use vinyl slats in the same way. With vinyl, though, you can use a variety of colors, which can really give your fence that extra "pop" that it needs to stand out. These slats are require little to no maintenance and are resistant to most weather conditions.

4. Get Creative with Plastic Cups.

Whether you want to write out "Merry Christmas" in December or "Happy Fourth of July" in July, you can use plastic cups in your chain link fence to relay any message that you would like to your guests, neighbors and passersby. Some people find that this looks tacky, so this isn't an option for everyone. However, you can use the cups to create messages or even designs.

5. Line the Fence with Plants.

If you have a green thumb, you may want to consider growing plants along your chain link fence, such as flowers and shrubs. You could even opt for plants that will grow tall and through the slots of the fence. For a rustic look, you can take the vines from these plants and weave them through the openings. The best plants that you could use for this would be jasmine and ivy. If you would like a vine with flowers, you could try honeysuckle or morning glory, which are a perennial (comes back every year) and an annual (needs to be replanted each year), respectively.

Chain link fencing is functional and offers security, safety and a bit of privacy to your home. However, with the above-mentioned tips, you can add more privacy while also ensuring that your chain link fence isn't an industrial eyesore. Tips for All Stages of Home Remodeling and Renovating

When my wife and I were looking for a new home, we only had a few homes to choose from that were within the district we wanted our children to attend. That made it tough to find a home that was "perfect" for us, but thankfully, we left room in our budget to make changes to the home we bought. Thankfully, the home we bought was large enough for us to live in during the renovation process, although we did have to make our children share rooms until we added that bedroom we needed. We learned that careful planning is important to ensuring the final result of your renovation projects is exactly how you want it, and we dedicated at lot of time to planning. We learned so much during the process that we wanted to make a blog to share our tips and experience on!
