Learn How To Wrap Your Garage Door To Make It Look Like A Holiday Gift

Decorating your garage door for the holidays will show your neighbors just how much spirit you truly have. Fortunately, you do not have to be an interior designer to learn how to decorate your door in a fun and stylish way. Use the following guide to learn how to make your garage door look like a giant present.

Supplies You'll Need

  • Two Different Colored 9' x 10' Tarps
  • Painter's Tape
  • Scissors
  • A Measuring Tape
  • A Washable Marker

Cover the Door

The first thing you need to do is cover the door with one of the tarps. To start, open your garage door. The door should go up onto the track and be flat over your head, when you stand in the garage. Stand on a ladder and spread the tarp out over the top of the garage door. Pull the edges of the tarp around to the back of the garage door and secure it with the painters tape. This will hold the tarp in place without allowing the neighborhood to see how you secured the tarp.

Measure and Mark

Next, take the second colored tarp and spread it flat on the ground. Use the measuring tape to measure the tarp width wise and make a mark every two feet. Use scissors to cut two long strips at the marks that you made.

Secure the Ribbon

Take one end of one of the strips and place it at the top of the garage door. Secure it into place with the painter's tape. Pull the other end of the strip all the way to the bottom of the door, over the tarp that was originally secured to the door. Pull the strip taut and then secure it with painter's tape. Take the second strip and secure it to the side of the door with the tape, pull it across the door until it is taut and then secure it with the tape.

Create the Bow

Cut another strip of tarp on the marks that you made. Cut that strip in half and then pull the ends of one half of the strip in toward the center of the strip. Use tape to secure the ends. At this point, you should have two open spaces. Use the second half of the strip to wrap around the center of the first half of the strip and secure it with the tape. This should create a bow.

Lower the garage door and use the painters tape to secure the bow to the location where the two strips of tarp intersect on the front of the door. This should make the door look like a gift box that is wrapped with ribbon and tied with a bow. Visit a site like http://www.1garagedoors.com for more information.

About Me

Tips for All Stages of Home Remodeling and Renovating

When my wife and I were looking for a new home, we only had a few homes to choose from that were within the district we wanted our children to attend. That made it tough to find a home that was "perfect" for us, but thankfully, we left room in our budget to make changes to the home we bought. Thankfully, the home we bought was large enough for us to live in during the renovation process, although we did have to make our children share rooms until we added that bedroom we needed. We learned that careful planning is important to ensuring the final result of your renovation projects is exactly how you want it, and we dedicated at lot of time to planning. We learned so much during the process that we wanted to make a blog to share our tips and experience on!
